Adult Day Care

Adult Day Care
Adult Day Care provides supervised and organized, meaningful activities in a secure setting to persons age 60 and older from Mifflin and Juniata Counties. ADC provides older adults with a family-like atmosphere where they socialize with others. The center is licensed by the Pennsylvania Department of Aging.
The center staff is trained to care for the needs of participants with a variety of disabilities. incontinence. and intellectual impairment.
Participants benefit from the center by staying mentally. physically, and socially active through group and individual activities. Most participants are able to remain in a home environment, thus postponing the need for a costly long-term care facility.

Center Hours
Participants may attend the center from I to 5 days per week (half or full days). The center is open from 7:00 AM to 4:30PM with consideration being given to opening earlier and closing later, if requested.

Activities and Programs
Each day at the center is preplanned. Activities are carefully organized and conducted according to participant's abilities and preferences.A care plan is developed (with participant and/or family input) to address each person's physical, mental, social and emotional needs. Activities and programs may include:

  • Reality orientation
  • Mental stimulation/reminiscence
  • Exercises
  • Arts and crafts
  • Intergenerational activities
  • Singing and dancing
  • Games and entertainment
  • Outings in the community
Transportation
Adult Day Care coordinates transportation to and from the center with CARS (Call-A-Ride Services).  However, participants and families may arrange for their own transportation, if preferred.

Meal Program
A hot nutritious lunch is served each day. A snack is available in the morning and afternoon.

Health Maintenance Program
Included in the Health Maintenance Program are weight and blood pressure monitoring. Medication is dispensed by certified staff. A nurse consultant provides quarterly monitoring of records and training as needed. Staff assists with personal care and toileting needs.
The cost to attend the Adult Day Care Center is dependent upon participant and spouse income. A sliding fee schedule determines the portion of the $45.00 per day actual cost to be assumed by the participant.
