WHAT IS
CARS?
CARS is a shared-ride transportation program. Sharing
means that you may sometimes have to leave home a little earlier or wait
a little longer for your trip home so that trips can be co-ordinated.
Transportation is provided between the hours of 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday
through Friday.
WHO IS
ELIGIBLE?
Everyone is eligible to use this transportation, providing you are
registered with the CARS office. Registration forms can be picked up at
the CARS other or call for information.
HOW DO I GET-A-RIDE?
Scheduling a ride by calling
242-CARS (2277), or
248-5667 or 1-800-348-CARS (2277) 24 to 48 hours in advance of the
needed transportation. Calls will be accepted 8 a.m to 4 p.m., Monday
through Friday. If you wait until the day before your appointment, you
only have until noon to make any rrangements or changes for the
following day. If you have an appointment on Monday, yen must call no
later than noon on Friday, since Monday is our next working day.
WHAT INFORMATION MUST I PROVIDE WHEN I CALL?
1. Your name
2. Your pick-up address
3. Your phone number
4. Your destination
5. Your appointment time
6. Your estimated finish time
7. Method of payment
8. Your physical condition - i.e. confined to wheelchair,
blind or visually handicapped
9. Escort accompaniment (minor or disabled)

NOW WHAT
HAPPENS!
DAY OF SCHEDULED TRIP

Be ready one half hour before you are
scheduled to be picked up.

Have CARS Travel Card ready to show to the driver.

Have exact amount of fare ready to pay driver when you
board the vehicle, if you owe. Some trips do not require payment.

Driver will wait 5 minutes after notifying you that
the vehicle is there. If you do not appear, the driver will leave
without you.

If you are unable to make a scheduled trip, notify the
CARS office as soon as possible.

If you fail to appear for three scheduled trips, your
services may be discontinued.
